The new musical Big Fish is casting its net in the Broadway seas! Directed and choreographed by Susan Stroman, the larger-than-life show opens October 6 at the Neil Simon Theatre. Based on the book and film of the same name, Big Fish stars Norbert Leo Butz as a father with big dreams and the production features music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa and a book by John August.
In addition to Butz as Edward Bloom, the Big Fish cast includes Kate Baldwin as Sandra Bloom, Bobby Steggert as Will Bloom, Krystal Joy Brown as Josephine Bloom, Zachary Unger as Young Will, Ryan Andes as Karl and Ciara Renee as the Witch. Big Fish tells the tale of Edward Bloom (Butz), a father who leads a very extraordinary life—at least in the stories he tells his son, Will (Steggert). But Will, who is getting married and expecting a child of his own, goes on a mission to search for the truth behind his father’s extravagant tales.
Big Fish also features Ben Crawford as Don Price, Kirsten Scott as Jenny Hill, Sarrah Strimel as Girl in the Water, JC Montgomery as Dr. Bennett, Alex Brightman as Zacky Price, Bryn Dowling as Dancing Fire, Robin Campbell and Lara Seibert as The Alabama Lambs, Tally Sessions as Mayor, Angie Schworer as Josephine’s Doctor. Bree Branker, Alex Brightman, Jason Lee Garrett, Leah Hofmann, Kirsten Scott and Cary Tedder round out the ensemble.
The Big Fish creative team includes lighting designer Donald Holder, set designer Julian Crouch, costume designer William Ivey Long and sound designer Jon Weston.
